Program Description
Welding is part of our everyday lives. It is used in making simple things like desks or tables, and it also plays a bigger role in the automotive industry, aircraft construction and bridge building. The welding is a multifaceted occupation and provides many different career opportunities.
Welding and Fitting is an 1,800-hour program covering 29 competencies. The training involves alternating theory and hands-on work to help students develop the skills they need to perform the job鈥檚 roles, functions and tasks. By the end of the program, they will be well-equipped to progress effectively while maintaining safety in the workplace.
The program includes the following activities:
Preparing and welding steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts using various processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and FCAW
Welding steel parts and producing basic assemblies
Interpreting drawings, specifications and welding procedures
Welding is an area of expertise that requires precision, consistency and agility. Program graduates can specialize in ship building and repair, pipeline construction welding, building construction welding, machinery and equipment repair welding, or aerospace precision welding.
* This DVS program is eligible for student financial assistance from the Government of Quebec.
