This program will allow you to acquire the techniques and skills to be able to install, optimize and repair computer software and operating systems.
This program is structured as follows:
- 20 competencies lasting from 30 to 120 hours.
- 2 internships to be completed off campus of 120 hours each (one in the middle of the training and the second at the end of your training).

Admission Requirements for International Students
To be eligible for admission for vocational studies leading to an DVS in Welding and Fitting, international students must meet one of the following requirements:
Comparative Evaluation : This is a document issued by Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion Qu茅bec. It indicates the level of education equivalent for studies conducted outside of Qu茅bec. OR
Diploma and Transcript: Certified copies of your diploma and transcript from the highest level of education is required. The copies must be translated into French or English. The assessment of the level of study will be completed by the school, the minimum level corresponding to the Quebec school system required is secondary 4;

General Development Test (GDT) and specific prerequisites: You must present a document stating that you have successfully completed the TDG and specific prerequisites. For the Automobile Mechanics program, you must pass the prerequisites in language of instruction and in mathematics according to the codes shown in the following table:

Secondary School Equivalency Test (SSET): This evaluation is composed of seven equivalency exams at the Secondary 5 level. These multiple choice tests, assess your general knowledge in English (grammar), English (reading comprehension), mathematics, French (second language), social studies, economics and natural science. Once you鈥檝e passed the evaluation, an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary Studies (AESS) at the Secondary 5 level is issued. You must present this certificate to apply for an DVS.

If you meet the requirements for admission, and you submit all required documents, your file can be assessed. Based on this assessment you will receive a letter of acceptance within 7 to 10 days.

Admission Requirements for Local Students
To be eligible for admission for vocational studies leading to a DVS in Welding and Fitting, students who are Canadian or permanent residents must meet one of the following requirements:
Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent.
OR
Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.
OR
Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the General Development Test (see the following table), or recognition of equivalent learning:

1. What are the program objectives?
A graduate from the Welding and Fitting program will be qualified to operate equipment to weld, braze and solder. Our students are prepared for what the industry needs and which meets the welding standards. As well as:
Interpret plans, specifications and procedures
Prepare and weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts according to different processes, such as; SMAW, CTAW, GMAW, FCAW
Apply occupational health and safety rules
Control the quality of products
2. What is the nature of work in this industry?
This is a highly skilled trade, which involves the use of welding equipment in the heating, welding, cutting and brazing of ferrous and nonferrous metals. Welders work with their hands; building, repairing or performing installations.
3. What are the main characteristics of a welder?
Dexterity and visual acuteness
Capacity to concentrate and able to execute precise/detailed work
Resistance to uncomfortable positions for long periods of time
Sufficient knowledge to interpret plans, specifications and procedures
Ease to work in the presence of loud noises, vibrations, smoke, dust and heat.
